About the Artist
Aleksander Baade || 21 || United States
I have been interested in art from the time I was a child. I grew up in an art centered family, my father is a musician and photographer and my mother is a jewelry artist, and I would cite this as the main reason I became interested in art at such a young age. I spent most of my childhood wrapped up in the arts and reaching for any opportunity I could find. This followed me through middle school and into high school where I first considered art as a part of my professional future.
My art is primarily focused on myself and how I interact with my environments and additionally I do a great deal of character design work centered around my own projects. Being transgender has influenced my artistic process in many ways and it has ultimately inspired me to redefine what gender looks like in both myself and the works that I create. My digital work reflects this the most as the characters I design tend to fall outside of traditionally male or female roles, but it is also a driving force for much of the art I create traditionally as well.
I am currently majoring in graphic communication at Carroll University with a minor in software engineering.
